Avery Healthcare Group’s Silvermere Care Home in Cobham, Surrey, has achieved a double award for its housekeeping and catering provision from the Continuous Advancement Programme (CAP). The achievement is all the more noteworthy as this is the first time that the Silvermere home, part of the Avery Healthcare Group, has participated in the nationally-recognised programme.
The CAP Assessment team visited the care home unannounced in late November 2019. There, they found many attributes worthy of commendation, not least of which is the ambition exhibited by the home towards its housekeeping and catering services.
Rose O’Mara, Home Manager at Silvermere explains: “This is a busy home and we recognise that the roles played by the housekeeping and catering teams are essential to the wellbeing of our residents. By embracing the CAP Programme, they are displaying their determination to be measured against the best and strive to match them. I am proud of them.”
The Chief CAP Assessor, Ian Jackson, noted that the staff interaction on the day of the assessment was excellent, with members of both teams demonstrably committed to the learning process that is one of the many positive facets of the CAP Programme. “A double CAP silver from an unannounced first participation assessment is an excellent result,” says Jackson. “Moving forwards, we have absolutely no doubt that they will progress their standing within the Programme as part of a clear commitment to deliver the very best care and support to their residents. Both teams are to be commended for their enthusiasm and aspiration.”
