Sliver Award for the New Victoria Hospital Recognises Housekeeping Excellence

December 14, 2018

Kingston Upon Thames’s New Victoria Hospital has landed a prestigious Silver Award for its excellence in housekeeping from the nationally-recognised Continuous Advancement Programme (CAP).

The CAP Awards programme assesses the standard of housekeeping performance of healthcare organisations and schools throughout the UK and Ireland. Members of the programme share a passion for raising those standards of housekeeping.

This is the first time that the New Victoria Hospital has submitted its housekeeping practices to the intense scrutiny of the CAP Inspection Team. In his report, chief CAP assessor Ian Jackson noted the friendliness of the welcoming team and praised the housekeeping performance, particularly in the face of the significant challenge presented by an extensive construction project that promises to deliver impressive new medical facilities.

Attitude remained high on the agenda as Jackson observed during his appraisal: “the high level of interest displayed by members of the team during the hands-on inspection is to be applauded. A CAP assessment is a rigorous challenge, yet the desire to progress was visible and everything was completed with a smile.”

Graham Bell, CEO at the New Victoria Hospital, singled-out the determination within the actual cleaning delivery and congratulated the team. “The housekeeping department takes on a truly critical role within the hospital. The delivery is nothing short of impressive and we are all grateful to every member of the hard-working team,” he says.

The CAP Silver Award is the highest accolade the assessment body can award as a result of a scheduled inspection. The ultimate CAP Gold can only be attained by organisations that commit to the challenge of an unannounced inspection visit from the CAP assessment team.
