First CAP Platinum for Housekeeping Goes to Bon Secours Care Village

August 27, 2019

It’s a significant milestone for Bon Secours Care Village in Mount Desert near Cork, and for the Continuous Advancement Programme. The first CAP Platinum accolade has been awarded to the Care Village for its exemplary housekeeping.

This award is not just related to the latest CAP assessment at the Care Village in July, where exceptionally high standards were seen to be maintained, but for the three consecutive years of CAP Golds achieved by the organisation prior to that.

Only Continuous Advancement Programme participants who achieve three consecutive CAP Gold awards are eligible to try for a CAP Platinum in the fourth year. While the CAP assessment criteria for a Gold award are renowned for being stringent, those for a Platinum award are nothing short of ruthless. CAP Golds in 2016, 2017 and 2018 qualified the Bon Secours Care Village to aim for the Platinum – the newest pinnacle of achievement that can be awarded by CAP. The Care Village is the first establishment to land the ultimate declaration of excellence in housekeeping.

Nollaig Broe, Hospital Manager/Director of Nursing, said: “To be the first in Ireland to achieve Platinum for Housekeeping Services is special for all involved – our Residents, Staff and Visitors. Great team performance.”

In fact, Bon Secours Care Village is the first CAP Platinum recipient in the entire Continuous Advancement Programme across the UK and Ireland. “The Housekeeping Team and Care Home have demonstrated year-on-year commitment to raising the standards for the benefit of their residents. They personify the CAP Programme and are fitting recipients of the first-ever CAP Platinum Award for Housekeeping,” explains CAP Chief Assessor, Ian Jackson.
