Bon Secours Care Village Retains CAP Membership

January 24, 2019

It might start to look like Bon Secours is the flavour of the month with a couple of recent mentions here already, and quite a few more in the pipeline. In fact, it’s mostly that this organisation takes its commitment to CAP participation seriously. So we’re delighted to report on the progress of each of the facilities. Here’s a recent press release on the Bon Secours Care Village at Mount Desert (near Cork).

PRESS RELEASE

The acclaimed Bon Secours Care Village overlooking Cork city has again collaborated in the nationally-recognised Continuous Advancement Programme (CAP) to help drive excellence in its catering provision.

Members of the CAP programme share a passion for raising the standards of housekeeping and catering in healthcare organisations across Ireland and the UK. Along with reports of performance detailed from a rigorous inspection regime, the CAP programme provides valuable roadmaps for quality and cost efficiency improvements.

In his report at Bon Secours, the CAP Programme assessor noted the challenge presented to the organisation’s catering department with four new kitchenettes to maintain that extend the area of operation.

Among other points highlighted were the themed events and resident special occasions staged by the Care Village, along with the good standard of food that is frequently praised in feedback from residents. In addition, a strong focus on resident care with the importance of working closely with the care team was commended.

The CAP inspector commented on the lunch service: “the balance of flavours across the service is a credit to the catering department, right down to the beautifully-prepared and delicious cottage pie. While the assessment also scrutinises food preparation, the ingredients and the timeliness of service, the measure that’s arguably most important to the residents is the quality and flavour of the food. I cannot fault this at Bon Secours,” the CAP Assessor explains.

Nollaig Broe, Hospital Manager and Director of Nursing believes food and beverage to be an important part of resident care. “The steps taken by the catering team to progress the service are an essential part of life at the Care Village. We look forward to continuing with the CAP programme to enhance the offer to our residents.”
