Benenden School Praised for Quality Housekeeping Provision

March 25, 2019

Benenden School in Kent has attracted praise from the nationally-recognised Continuous Advancement Programme (CAP) for the quality of its Housekeeping services. The CAP Awards assessment team paid an unannounced visit to the school in October for a series of stringent inspections.

The school first submitted its housekeeping provision to independent scrutiny in 2017. During the recent visit, the Chief CAP Inspector noted good progress in the performance of the housekeeping department. In his report, he highlighted the increased focus and high level of engagement shown by the housekeeping team.

Benenden School caters for girls from age 11 to 18. With a unique model that sees all 550 girls boarding at the school, housekeeping provision is a critical service. The school offers excellent facilities for its pupils including smart form houses, a prestigious science building and impressive sweeping grounds – all of which present significant challenges to the team charged with maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping. To stretch the team’s housekeeping provision further, construction begins on a flagship school hall and a state-of-the-art music school in 2019.

The CAP Chief Assessor, Ian Jackson, commended the Benenden housekeeping team for demonstrating significant progress since the school’s 2017 assessment: “It is extremely pleasing to see the positive steps taken since our previous inspection visit. This is an excellent springboard to future success,” he says.

Samantha Price, Headmistress at Benenden School, added: “The house keeping team is an integral part of the pastoral care we provide for pupils. I am so pleased to see the team take on this challenge and look to excel.”

Benenden School celebrates its Centenary year in 2023.
