We love it when organisations make the most of the CAP Awards they receive. None more so, perhaps, than Avery Healthcare. The people at Avery are truly on the ball when it comes to news reporting through the Avery website.
So we are delighted to see much-deserved coverage of the recent twin CAP Awards we presented to Avery’s Grove Park Care Home in Headingley on the outskirts of Leeds. And there’s a great photo of members of the care home’s housekeeping and catering teams proudly displaying their CAP Award plaques (which we’ve also used here).
Subjected to an unannounced inspection visit by our CAP assessment team, Grove Park duly received a CAP Gold for its housekeeping and a Silver for Catering. This visit took place in December, and it was a first for the CAP team to have to steer our inspection around Santa’s Grotto! Despite the extra challenge of housekeeping around a festive installation, we judged the team to be of CAP Gold standard.
Make no mistake, a CAP Silver is an exceptional achievement (fewer than one in six CAP Award programme participants ever reach our Gold standard), especially as this was Grove Park catering’s first CAP Award attempt. Now the catering department has a 12-month roadmap (all part of the CAP service) to aim for Gold next time. It’s worth pointing out a catering highlight uncovered during our inspection visit: a delicious dish of plums and custard that prompted excellent feedback from the residents. It is a very simple dish, but we know from years of catering experience that this makes it all the harder to deliver. Well done Grove Park team.
